Kathleen Malchow Scholarship Fund
Provides Financial Scholarships and Assistance to Support Catholic Based Education

About Our Foundation

Founded in 1997, Kathleen Malchow Scholarship Fund provides scholarships to elementary and high school students seeking a Catholic education. In addition to a curriculum strong on Mathematics, English Language Arts, Science, Social Studies and STEAM, families seek an education structure based in the Catholic tradition instilling the tenets of their faith, the need for charity and service, and the importance of liturgy, prayer, sacraments. Unfortunately, not all families have the financial resources to make their dream a reality. With support from KMSF, deserving young people gain access to an education that would otherwise be out of reach.
KSMF was founded by the Malchow family to honor Kathleen Malchow, a devoted wife, loving mother, and a loyal friend. Kathy had a strong conviction that every child should have the opportunity for a quality education and considered an educated child "rich with opportunity." In the beginning, through the financial support of my family and close friends, KMSF set out to enrich the lives of local youth by providing them with educational opportunities they would otherwise be unable to access. As interest in KSMF's work increased, we have reached out more broadly to communicate the mission in an effort to raise an additional dollars to fund the increasing demand for financial assistance in education.

Student Highlight
Armoni is a freshman at Eastern Illinois University where she aspires to earn a Bachelor Degree in Business Administration. Her future is bright and full of promise; however, this was not always the case for the future business executive. As a youngster, Armoni was the victim of bullying in her grade school. Seeking both a safer environment, and one where she felt Armoni would excel, her mother enrolled her daughter at St. Columbanus, a Catholic School. After eighth grade graduation, Armoni applied and was accepted to Seton Academy. Tuition assistance for both junior high and high school has come from KMSF and Horizons for Youth. For several years, KMSF has been supporting students and Horizons for Youth, an organization providing scholarship, mentoring and enrichment programs for children from Kindergarten through high school, with continued academic and social-emotional support through college.
It is through your continued contribution that we can support students like Armoni. Through education we can change the world one student at a time.
